The primary purpose of the Orchard is to provide care and stimulation for those suffering with Alzheimer's and Dementia. This is done by treating each client with respect and giving them the dignity that is often lacking in society once they have been diagnosed. The centre operates in a very relaxed, friendly and happy environment. All staff are trained in dementia working on a 1-3 staff client ratio.

Aims of The Orchard

The main objective of the team at the Orchard is to support and provide a sense of well being and support for the person with dementia. They seek to promote independence and encourage socialisation to help the person with dementia live as meaningful and purposeful life as possible.

This is done by finding out about their life history

  • their families

  • previous occupations

  • interests and hobbies

  • likes / dislikes

  • daily routines

  • emotional/ physical needs

  • fears / concerns

The team aim to understand and build a unique personal profile and together with the family creates a support plan for the individual. The team believe that social integration plays a huge part in increasing confidence and self-esteem.
